WASHINGTON: The US military’s top officer bluntly accused Pakistan on Thursday of “exporting” violent extremism to Afghanistan through proxies and warned of possible US action to protect American troops.

In a scathing and unprecedented public condemnation of Pakistan, Admiral Mike Mullen said the country’s main intelligence agency ISI was actively supporting Haqqani network militants blamed for an assault on the US embassy in Kabul last week.

ISLAMABAD INews Pakistan Reported :  Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani on Thursday visited a relief camp set up for the flood affected people at Sanghar.
General Kayani visiting the tent city established by Army in Kaloi, Tharparkar General Kayani met with the flood affected people and assured them that the army would continue to help them in their time of need.
He was also briefed about the situation following the rains in the province.

QUETTA: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Saturday claimed that peace had been established in Balochistan province’s rural areas and that “terrorists” were now headed towards Quetta, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to media representatives here, Mr Malik said terrorists were also targeting women and children, however, authorities were acting against them in full force.
Responding to a question, Mr Malik said incidents of terrorism had gone down considerably in rural Balochistan.

ZANZIBAR INews Pakistan Reported : At least 43 people died when a ferry capsized off Zanzibar, but 259 have people have so far been rescued, a minister in the semi-autonomous archipelago said Saturday.
No foreigners have so far been reported amongst either the dead or rescued, according to a reporter at the scene.
“So far we have recovered 43 people who died, but we have rescued 259 survivors,” said Mohammed Aboud, Zanzibar’s state minister for emergencies, adding that 40 of those rescued were seriously injured.

In the southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta two suicide bombers who were targeting a senior security official, struck near government offices, killing 20 people, according to a police official.
It is not yet sure who was responsible for the terrorist attack, but it is known that Pakistan’s Taliban militants close to al Qaeda often carry out such actions, aiming to topple the government.

Mr Kamal severely criticised the media and human rights organisations while responding to former Sindh home minister Dr Mirza’s outburst in a press conference on Tuesday. He quoted the president as saying that he himself had been disappointed.
